HOW CAN I LEARN NEW ENGLISH WORDS? Hello all, I was wondering if someone could able to help me. During many time and many years learning english when you try to learn new vocabulary you don't know how to do so in the best way possible. Are there anyone who wants to share the best way? I was living in Ireland for a while and I could see with my own eyes the best way to learn new vocabulary is living there because you remember this new words most easily. Currently I am not living there and I would like to continue learning new words. Thank you in advance

Nice writing practice Lya. If you have any questions with my corrections, let me know. - Jason

There is no best way to learning vocabulary, everyone learns new vocabulary differently. However, there are some ways that will almost always work, if you are focused and practice. Reading almost anything in English is helpful. Find something that interests you first and start with that, and understand words you don't know. Watching videos on Youtube, with subtitles is okay, and that helps you identify new words easier. I know a person who learned English REALLY well by listening and listening and listening, and understanding the lyrics of her favorite musician (in English of course). There are many ways that work if you keep doing it regularly. Good luck!

Hola Lya! I don't know if you wanted English corrections on your post, or wanted an answer to the question. I'll give any answer :-) : * Try using Anki to make new vocabulary stick (https://apps.ankiweb.net/). * Make sure you're studying common words first * Try using new words in written sentences, and ask for corrections here. * Chat with people here on italki asking for help specifically with the new words Cheers!

American high school students who want to go to college take a test called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, or S.A.T. A portion of the test has to do with vocabulary. American students memorize vocabulary words that may appear on the test, they are often, but not always, words with Latin roots. If you Google “SAT and Vocabulary” you will find lots of lists and quizzes with college level English words that American high school students study. For example, I just found this list which is pretty good. https://satvocabulary.us
