To begin with, having been raised in the world where the Internet is taken for granted, young people spend more time chatting online than interacting with their family. Rarely do they turn to their over-protective parents or teachers for help or advice. On top of that, adults seem to be as obsessed with smartphones and social media as teens. Besides, snowed under with work, adults do not pay much attention to their offsprings’ worries and fears so they seek support on the Internet. Therefore children feel distant from their parents and they end up drifting up.

Secondly, adults tend to share their experience with the younger generation but times are changing, thus their views on life do not always perfectly match up with teenagers’. In other words, adolescents are likely to fell out with their parents when it comes to the issues what college would they get into or what profession should they choose, not to mention when they should get married. Obviously, the constant arguments put a strain on the relationship between parents and their children.

In conclusion, it is challenging for adults to be on good terms with teenagers who do not share their life values, however, I am convinced that it is modern technology and online networking what distances different generations further apart.
