輔導教師A fun fact about Swahili (Kiswahili) is that it is one of the few languages in the world that developed from trade interactions! It originated along the East African coast as a Bantu language but absorbed many words from Arabic, Persian, Portuguese, Hindi, and later English due to centuries of trade and cultural exchanges.
For example, the Swahili word for book, "kitabu," comes from the Arabic "kitāb" (كتاب), and "safari" (which means "journey") also comes from Arabic "safar" (سفر).
Today, Swahili is spoken by over 200 million people and is an official language of the African Union (AU)! 🚀🌍
