I found myself in the women's bathroom by mistake.
When mentioning things like this you have to make why you were there or else people will start asking questions about why you went there. I hope this helps.

I accidentally went into the women’s bathroom.
You should say "bathroom" if you're using American English. For us, the toilet is the thing that you use when you're in the bathroom. Good job!

toilet and bathroom are both fine. As is restroom. It's just a difference between American and British English.
