Please solve it!! Can we use present perfect for unfinished actions or states. I know we can use present perfect for unfinished time periods. But confuse about using Actions and states.

Present perfect continuous is used when talking about an unfinished TIME PERIOD. I have been living in Thailand for 20 years = unfinished and a period of time. Present Perfect Simple is used when talking about: 1. an experience Example: I have visited America 2. A recent event that is important now. Example: the taxi has arrived.

I have lived in Thailand for over 20 years. This is unfinished because I might live there longer. We only stop using present perfect here if I die!! Then this activity is finished

Perfect means "completed" I was doing = imperfect I did = perfect I am doing = imperfect I have done = pefect/complete

Hi I think I will try to explain the 4 uses of present perfect 1 final time. I hope you are listening... Present perfect simple tends to be used for 1. Experience. 2. Number of times an activity has been done. Eg1 I have seen a volcano erupting. Eg2. I have won 5 wrestling matches in my life. Present perfect continuous tends to be used for (3) focus on how long an activity lasts or (4) the activity that led to the results seen. 3. I have been living in Saudi Arabia for 4 years. 4. If a friend asks me why I look tired I could answer” because I have been working very hard lately to explain the present perfect tense to my students. “ I hope this clarifies your understanding. But don’t hesitate to ask if you are still not clear
