Hi Reena, 'like' is fine to use when speaking, but it's better to use alternatives when writing. Also, an invention is a thing - lightbulb, wheel, machine. You have referred to processes in your text. A wind turbine is an invention, but the process of harnessing natural resources is an innovation.
