Please help with the verb form –
My aunt and her husband (have) a child recently, so they decided to move to a bigger house.
is it HAVE HAD or HAD ? And why?

Both are acceptable but I would use "had". The reason is that the action of the child being born is in the past. "They had a child recently" (recently is the indicator of time).
