Please correct my English sentence. Especially, my use of verb tenses. Is "I had asked" correct? I was really in trouble. I used Mercari, a flea market app, and bought a light. After I installed it on the ceiling, I could never remove it because of the defect in the stopper. To remove it, I have to pay a tech person five thousand yen. I had asked the seller to cover the cost, but I was too tired of the negotiation to continue. So I gave up.

I had some trouble with a purchase I made using the “internet flea market” app, “Mercari”. After purchasing a light and installing it in my ceiling, I realized that I couldn’t remove it, because of a defect in the stopper. To remove it, I would have had to pay a tech person around five thousand yen. I politely asked the seller to cover the cost, but the seller declined. I eventually grew tired of trying and just gave up.
