Could you please help me clarify something that confused me?
I know the meaning of 'echar de menos' - to miss someone.
However, recently I was struggling to say 'I was walking along the street and suddenly started to laugh', and the dictionary gave me 'Hoy iba por la calle y me HE ECHADO a reír' which confused me. Is it a colloquialism or an error?

Es un coloquialismo, se usa de forma figurada para indicar el comienzo de una  una acción, por ejemplo: 
Me he echado a reír (empecé a reír)
Se echó a llorar (empezó a llorar)
El perro se echó a dormir ( se acomodó para dormir)

Hola Anastasia, es un coloquialismo." Me he echado a reír", es lo mismo que decir, "me he empezado a reír".
