Which sounds more natural in a work email? "Please revert back to me at your earliest convenience." "Please get back to me when you can." A lot of professionals use the first one thinking it sounds formal. Does it? Why or why not?

REVERT is not the word you want. It means something like "go back to a previous state". You can say the second one, or "Please reply to me at your earliest convenience."
