Please correct me. Thank you!
Driving has become the most popular way of traveling since the emergence of cars. I believe that future trends will still revolve around driving, but with cars which are upgraded to be more ecofriendly.
First, public transportation, which is usually inefficient, has non-negligible downsides. Take subways as an example, the train stops in every station even though there are no passengers getting in or out. A large amount of energy is used in braking and accelerating, which can even exceed that of driving directly to the destination by ourselves. Moreover, it takes time to transfer between lines or even to buses to reach the destination, and do not mention the time wasted on waiting in lines or walking to the nearest station.
In contrast, driving is definitely the best way of traveling. The most stated advantage of driving is probably flexibility. When we are in our car, we are able to decide where to go and when to depart. In addition, we may add any stops during our travel to adapt to everyone's needs. However, there are serious issues, such as air pollution and terrible traffic, that are still to be solved.
The problems mentioned above can be resolved by upgrading cars and the whole road system. With the developments in technology, cars in the future will definitely become more fuel-efficient or even consuming renewable energy resources solely. These improvements will reduce our harm to the environment, which is the most criticized point. On the other hand, the advanced road system may compute the optimized routes or routines of traffic lights. With the assistant of big data, we are able to exert the maximum capacity of the roads. The promising advancements in technology would probably diminish the rebelling opinion against this trend.
