what's the "not so far off the mark" mean? a sentence as bellew: "To be sure, experts' evaluation of the technical flaws in sound experiments was not so far off the mark" how to understand about "not so far off the mark"? thank you

on the mark = to be 100% correct off the mark = not to be 100% correct Variations of this are: off the mark far off the mark very far off the mark not so far off the mark (=quite close) not too far off the mark etc

"not so far off the mark" Not far = close to so "not so far off the mark" means the experiment results were close to the mark. in another way : Technical flows were very close to the agreed value. hope it helps :)

This is a term which probably comes from target practice or hunting. Mark - Target to shoot at Not so far off of - close to It is close to the target...
