Does it matter which way the accent mark on a letter faces? or is it always one way? (italian) if so, what do they mean?

Consider that the frequently used accented letters are the followings: à è é ì ò ù as you may see, only /e/ has two possible accents; all in all : unless you are a professional speaker (movie, theater, TV news, etc.) the important thing to pay attention to is WHERE the accent goes (on which vowel); the kind of accent is usually ignored by many Italians that went through High school and also University education; This is my suggestion. I teach and never worry about this fact, nevertheless my students (in their twenties) understand me clearly. Sorry I did not explain you anything related to the real subject.
