What does a leap of logic mean?

It is another way of saying 'jumping to conclusions', in other words, that
the logic that is supporting an opinion is not complete, it lacks some pieces.
In italiano diremmo ad esempio:
a1) un salto di logica
a2) una logica incompleta 
b1) un ragionamento imperfetto
b2) un ragionamento non stringente

All'opposto, se vuoi sottolineare che la logica e` valida, puoi dire:
-- una logica ferrea (iron-cast logic)
-- un ragionamento stringente
