Mane - is hair on a horses head (没有 “i")
Whisper - 这是小声或耳语，所以根胡子无关。

You may also hear "goatie" 这就是个小胡子像 'goat' 山羊的小胡子。Hair on upper lip, and chin but not on cheeks.
