Equivaldría a "año sabático", aunque en inglés no es del todo correcto, ya que año sabático es "a year off", pero "gap year" es un año en el que puedes trabajar, viajar... después del colegio y antes de empezar la universidad, para lo que no hay equivalente en español, ya que si trabajas, no es un año sabático.
