What is the difference between 近来 and 最近? 大家好,Hi everyone. Am I correct that both (近来)and (最近) both mean (Recently) ? If I want to say, Recently, I haven't seen him, what is the best way to say that. Should I say 1- 我近来没有看到他 。。。。 OR 2- 我最近没有看到他 If both sentences are correct, Please give me examples of the difference in use between both of them. Thanks a million

There's no big difference in ur context. But 近来 is more formal, kind of a literal word I think, but used to ask daily things. Eg. 近来可好? Also 最近 can be followed by a period of time but 近来 cannot. Like u can say"最近几天我很难过 and u can't say "近来几天

Yes, “近来” is a formal expression. If you use it in a causal setting, people might consider you artsy unless you want be a little humorous among friends.
