There is a slight difference although people use these words to mean the same thing.
Fate means the preordained course of your life that will occur because of or in spite of your actions.
Example:
It was fate that we met today.
Destiny means a set of predetermined events within your life that you take an active course in shaping.
Example: My destiny is to be a teacher.
