Etymology vs Hidden Meaning in Philosophical Case I have learned some Russian words from someone. He gave me a new perspective in looking Russian words not in literal meaning but in philosophical one. I have already asked a similar question but then comes a new question in my mind, Is it Etymology or hidden meaning if concerning about philosophical case that sometimes it is beyond our mind. If you know lots about this, could you give me other examples for learning Russian in different side. For Example: Can you translate in Russian, the word mood? настроение nastroenie нас трое nas troe = it means we are threesome (Body, Mind and Soul) Only when these three parts are together we have a good mood. So, let's delete one letter с я растроился it means it was divided into three separate parts = I lost unity Another example: Do you know the word punishment in russian nakazanie Some people say God punishes people for their sin. In Russian it will sound like Бог наказывает nakaz means advise So it becomes the opposite meaning. = God doesn't punish. God advises people not to do sin.

This can be useful for you: the Russian word "family" - семья can be understood as 'seven Is' - семь+я. Мужчина - a man: муж + чин - a husband + rank (he has to have a high rank and make money). Женщина - a woman: жена + щи - a wife + cabbage soup (she has to be a housewife).

I think it's amusing to find this hidden meaning, sometimes it really agrees. But in most cases it's only casuistry, it doesn't have use in real life.

where did you take it? it is Ложное мудрсвование в четырёх фигурах силлогизма.I mean there is no philosophical sense in it, on my opinion.

Святой (holy) begins from "свет" (light). святой (holy) - чувствовать свет (to feel light) Позор (shame). This word begins from "обзор" (view). Зор - смотреть (to look). "Позорить" means "показывать" (to expose). At old times, "позор" and "обзор" was the same word. Язык (tongue) - давать звук (озвучивать) (to give sound) "глаза" (eyes) and "очи" (eyes). глаза (eyes) - глазеть (stare). очи (eyes) - очаровывать (to charm) - накладывать чары (to impose the spell). ненавидеть (to hate) - не видеть (not to see). свекровь (mother-in-law, husband's mother) - святая кровь (holy blood). кровное родство — blood relationship. теща (mother-in-law, wife's mother) - тешить (please / comfort) буква (letter) - бук (beech - a large tree with smooth grey bark), ва - вода (water) {beech put in the water to make it easier to write}. бук + ва = буква. There are many such examples.
