How do you say it another way?
Let's not linger over it. = .................................
Does it mean "Let's not think over it too much"?

Exactly. "I don't want to linger over the reasons why I didn't get the job. The future is far more important!" = "I don't want to keep thinking about the reasons why I didn't get the job. The future is far more important!".
It can also mean ... "Let's not *talk* about it too much" when in conversation.
"Let's not linger over the topic of sales any longer" = "Let's not talk about sales any more". It does basically also mean *let's not think about sales any longer* as well. But when used in conversation, it can just mean ... "Let's move on. We've talked about this enough."
Hope this helps and take care :)!
