Use of 주세요 I would just like a little clarification in the use of 주세요. Is 주세요 only used when you're asking for something, so that it translate into "Can I have that please?" or is it just used for please in general? I would assume not because the verb in 주세요 is 주다 and 세요 is the polite way of telling someone to do something, correct? Is there a term for please in Korean? Or does the word ending of 세요 cover the English word please?

To cut to the chase and answer your questions, It can be used both when you mean "please in general" and (1) "when you want to have something and are asking for it". (2) the word ending of 세요 cover the English word "please" Let me give you examples for #2, because #1 is used more literally. 알려주실래요 / Would you let me know, please 알려주세요 / Let me know, please 알려줘요 / Let me know, will ya 알려줘 Let me know. 적어주실래요 Would you please write that down 적어주세요 / Write that down, please 적어줘요 / Write that down for me, will ya 적어줘 Write that down for me If you want to know more, leave a comment or give me a message. I hope this helps. :)

주다 has 2 type. 타동사, 보조동사. when it used 타동사, it means 'give', but if it used 보조동사, it express "do something or do action for someone" ---- example for 타동사, 주다. ---- 물을 주다 give water. 나는 그녀에게 물을 주었다. I gave water to her 제게 물을 주세요. please, give me water. ---- 주세요 is shorten word. 주-시-어요. 시 express politeness 어요 is 종결어미(end word tail), 어요 is 구어(spoken word) ---- ----- example for 보조동사, 주다. ---- 아이에게 집을 찾아 주다. find a home with a family for child. 아이에게 집을 찾아 주세요. please, for child, find a home with a family. 아이들과 놀아 주다. play with the children. 아이들과 놀아 주세요. please, play with the children. 그는 내 자동차를 무상으로 수리해 주었다 He repaired my car free of charge
