A “foyer” is the lobby of a public building or the entrance hall or vestibule of a private dwelling. In private dwellings, it is usually not large. “Hall” has a number of meanings. It can be a corridor or passageway in a building, a large entrance room or lobby in a building, a building for public gatherings or the large room where such events are held, a school building that provides classrooms, dormitories or dining facilities for students. In the French part of south Louisiana, “hall” used to be used to refer to the living room or parlor, the principle room for entertaining, although it is no longer used in that sense. Four new paintings hung in the foyer. Late arrivals must wait in the foyer. A giant photograph of the actor hung in the foyer of the theatre. A multitude of people gathered at the doorway of the exhibition hall. There were plenty of people in front of the Town Hall. There was a low murmur of conversation in the hall. The systematic arrangement of chairs makes the hall look spacious. His voice echoed in the big empty hall. Morning assemblage is held in the school hall.

a hall links two or more rooms together, another word would be corridor. a foyer is the 'room' or area where you enter a building (such as a hotel, company headquarters) and generally wait until you go to the room you are going to. It can also be called the Reception, as this is normally where the reception and receptionists will be.
