does the following sentence make sense?
It is not something easily accomplished by parents these days, because life is more difficult to understand or deal with, but sharing interests does make it more fun to be a parent now.
I am not sure whether" make it more fun" makes sense.

I personally think that the line life is more difficult to understand OR deal with, should read understand AND deal with, but hey, that's just my take on it.
But the more fun to be a parent line is great, you should just drop off the now at the very end, it's superfluous :)
