GB means Great Britain the term was first used by James the Sixth of Scotland to describe a bigger or greater Britain meaning Scotland and England not including Ireland the term has nothing to do with so called "Greatness" it is used in the literal sense of something being bigger. United Kingdom is a term which was first used to describe the Political enitity created by the Union of the Crowns of Scotland England and Ireland. The term Great Britain is used in the preface to the King James Version of the Bible 1611. The term United Kingdom canme into use about 90 years later, and has little to do with a United Country no more than the expression Commonwealth has anything to do with wealth held in common. The english may hang on to their pathetic illusions but this is the reality.
