Thai language transliteration system
Is there any prevalent system for transliteration/transcription of Thai into English? There are so many of them, that i am confused.

well there is a Royal Thai General System that I do believe is also used for the street names etc... however it is not very useful as many vowals and the tones are missing
Therefore if you are really interested into studying Thai, I advise you to learn the Thai alphabet as early as possible. It's really not that hard

The Thai alphabet can be learnt in a week. Not 2-3 years.
It may look like a mammoth task when you are at the beginning but just do a little research and look at the grouping and patterns and some rules and you will realise that it will take no time at all.
Believe! Just give it a chance,

Well, ling, thank you for yours efforts, but it does not answer my question. I know about RTGS and ALA-LC and several others: http://slice-of-thai.com/pronunciation-guides/#best .
As for Thai alphabet, i am not ready to spend 2-3 years as you did, before i actually start to communicate in Thai. If you live in Thailand you are motivated to learn it which i am not.
Thanks anyway,
