Help with Urdu What's the difference between saying ''Aap'' and ''Tum'', as both mean the same thing but yet people tend to use both. Which one is better and what is the difference?

My understanding is that 'aap' is a much more formal and polite version . You can use it with people you've just met , or with adults or if you just wish to be more polite . Tum, on the other hand is used more often among friends and people you are familiar with . So, an informal version of the same word .
