what is the difference between called and named? what is the right one?

When you name something/someone, you give that thing/person a new name. You then call that thing/person by the name you have given it/him/her.

Hello, let a non-native speaker think that "called" (closed to "chamado"), is used when it is not known or no matter who exactly called smb. or smth. when "named" means that there must be someone who gave name, appointed etc.
