Trust me, the 'opening lines' are universal around the world… no matter western or eastern. But plz don't use 'How are you, how do you do…你好吗',it's just not for the first time meeting. 你好吗is used between people who already know each other well.
So, let's start with '你好,欢迎 Hello, welcome!' as Ice-breaker, then state your name: 我是...After exchanging the names and cards, repeat the name of the person you've just met. It's useful in almost any social setting to show your attention and make people feel being respected. You can ask about the trip: 路上还顺利吧?How was the trip? People will probably appreciate your concern. Now you are ready to make new Chinese friends by sharing some more information about yourself: like you have learnt chinese for three years, you want one day visit shanghai, etc. Keep smile Keep eye contact (not staring, OK?). Probably after finishing your official working items, to invite them for 'wining and dining' at someplace with your local specialties (not necessarily to be a very expensive one) would be very much appreciated.

Maybe you can start by introducing your culture or the local custom to them, because most of Chinese are interested in foreign culturesO(∩_∩)O And they'd be happy if you can talk something about Chinese culture and they'd also be happy to introduce to you their culture...
