It would be more grammatically-correct to ask, "If peas COULD talk, should we eat them?" =)

"If" peas "could" talk we could perhaps learn a lot from what they said so no, I don't think we should eat them, unless they were whining all the time about how life sucks. Perhaps then we should eat them. Do they talk while still in the pod, hanging from the pea plant? Isn't the sound muffled? I expect that a pea would not live long after it had been picked from the plant and taken from the pod. Would they scream when you bit into them? That might discourage some people from eating peas. Alas, like most moral questions it is quite difficult to arrive at a definitive answer. Personally though, no, wouuld not eat a talking pea.
