Umpisa vs Simula Is there any difference between the two?

They both mean "the start", "the beginning", or "the origin". In conversations, you may use them interchangeably. In formal writing, "simula" is almost always the one used.

As far as I know, "umpisa" comes from the Spanish "empezar", while "simula" is its pre-Hispanic Tagalog equivalent.

They have the same meaning and I think they can interchange.
