Hey, guys. Is this sentence gramatically correct?
The injury would have caused much more damage, hadn't the surgeon been such an excelent specialist in his area of expertease.

Almost correct - only the word order is wrong.
It should be:
..had the surgeon not been such an excellent ..

I meant expertise, of course (sorry, it's one of my common mistakes). :)
