Usage of "та" and "чи"? "Та" is more formal/polite than "чи" and used when talking to older people, but do Mongolians use "та" also with older people they're close to? Parent, older sibling? When talking to a stranger who seems to be younger than yourself (but a grown-up anyway), would you use "та" or "чи"?

Mongolians always use “тa” with parents and older relatives. Saying “чи” to an older person sounds rude, but it’s okay to say “чи” to younger people even if he’s a stranger.

Hi. My name is Bayarmaa. I am a new community tutor in Mongolian. Please take a look at my teacher profile. I have there a student profile too. Thanks. Mongols use Ta to all older people even to their family, older siblings. But it is tolerated to use Chi to your older siblings if there is not big age difference. People used to use Chi to younger people than themselves who they do not know in the past but now it is polite to use Ta to all adult people who you do not know.
