Question personal pronouns & verbs
Dear all,
I don't really understand the Latinamerican/Spanish personal pronouns and I'd be very happy if you could clarify the following for me:
yo (I) - estoy
tú (you sg.) - estás
él (he) - está
ella (she) - está
nosotros (we) - estamos
ustedes (vosotros in Spain) (you pl.) - estáis or están? (also confused with sois and son)
ellos (they m.) - están
ellas (they f.) - están
usted (you polite) - está

Ustedes is the equivalent of vosotros in South America but uses the form "son" (the same as ellos). In Spain we use it too, but only to address somebody very formally. So:
Yo estoy en España. / Yo soy español
Tú estás en España. / Tú eres español
Él/ella está en España. / Él es español / Ella es española
Ustéd está en España (Same as "tú", but formal. Used in the same way in Spain and in Latin America) / Usted es español
Nosotros/nosotras estamos en España / Nosotros somos españoles / nosotras somos españolas
Vosotros/vosotras estáis en España (only Spain) / Vosotros sois españoles / Vosotras sois españolas
Ustedes están en España (generally in Latin America, formal in Spain) / Ustedes son españoles
Ellos/ellas están en España / Ellos son españoles / ellas son españolas
