I don't know what you mean by 'remarkable' or 'striking.' In some situations just one '(' and one ')' can be used, but it is informal. Typically I may use it in the middle of a sentence when I want to say something extra which is not critical to that sentence, like so: "I went to the market to get some ice cream (it was very hot that day), when I saw a bunch of dogs out front." You could use commas instead, however this may be considered a run-on sentence: "I went to the market to get some ice cream, it was very hot that day, when I saw a bunch of dogs out front." But two '((' and '))' is entirely unusual. I would not use it.
