in fact, it comes from: 另外，....的一件事
for example, 我们要做.....，我们还要做另外的一件事....... it seem that 另外 is used as an adj: 另外的, BUT it's not true. Here, we just put adv after the verb --- this is correct.

2. 如果是形容词修饰名词，另外的一个方面，另外的一件事情，另外的一些地方， 另外，meaning for Besides,or Except, there is still something else, 而这里的else 就是”其他的“意思. 
3. 另外和其他都可以用人和事情，动物。
