The present progressive tense is used for an on-going action in the present. An example would be " Amy is *looking for* her bag" or " Jack and Amy *are fishing*". It can also be used negatively by just adding "not" in front of it. E.g "Amy *is not* going out anymore". ^.^

There are many uses to describe different situations, e.g. Something you are doing right now. Something you started doing but haven't finished. Something you will do soon.
