How do Swedes pronounce 'i' and 'y'? :) Hi, I noticed that the Swedish 'i' and 'y' are pronounced in a very special way compared to elsewhere in Scandinavia :) I don't know how to describe it, but it sounds like the letters are pronounced further back in the throat than in other languages... It's a very charming sound, but I have no idea how you say these sounds. :) Do Swedes really pronounce these letters differently than Norwegians/Danes and does anybody know the IPA for these sounds? :)

You can listen to the pronounciations of the Swedish alphabet here: There you can listen to long and short vowels and also word examples containing said vowels. http://www.digitalasparet.se/safir/m01/a1/o01.htm

Tack så mycket! Äntligen fick jag förklaringen på dessa vokalen, och den var mycket simplare än jag trodde den kunne vara. :)
