It is about people who have angel-like powers. The last two remained on the earth. the rest died. The point is that when man and woman encounter each other, they lose powers and immortality and become mortal human beings. Hancock and this woman were wife and husband, there were on earth too long. And they separated in the end of the film in order to survive and preserve powers.
