what does the expression " down to Earth" mean?
Hello everybody! I don't understand what the expression " down to Earth" mean.
"Beautiful, unique, and down to Earth , Lady Diana showed a particular talent for music and tender compassion for the people in her life."
I looked up on yahoo and I found this answer :
"someone who is wholesome, self assured but not cocky, kind and pure, not affected by the trend of the week". Is it correct?

"Down to earth" is the opposite of "has his/her head in the clouds." I can't find my earlier posting :( but recently I gave this example:
Head-in-the-clouds person: "Look how bright the stars are tonight! Do you think someone on a planet up there is looking down at us and wondering whether there someone here looking up at them?"
Down-to-earth person: "I don't know, but the mosquitoes are starting to bite, let's go inside."
Another example:
"So, in another year we should have enough people that this will not be a problem."
"Good, but to get down to earth, what do we plan to do next week?"

Yes, your definition is correct. A down to earth person is someone who can along with anyone...it doesn't matter if the person is rich, poor, homeless, etc....
Humble & pratical are fantastic synonyms !
