what's the difference between should and ought to?

This might be more of a regional thing in the US, but "ought to" generally is more informal or almost a dialect thing where I am from. They generally mean the same thing, but it's more proper to say "I should go do the laundry" instead of "I ought to do the laundry", though both will convey the same message.
