Could someone help me make sense of this sample recording, please?
Hi there. I've recently taken an online listening test. And out of their sample recordings, there was one that I couldn't understand at all. I asked a native English friend and he helped me to interpret several parts of it, but we still couldn't make sense of it overall (there was no way to save the recording directly from the test, so I recorded it again through my speaker, which led to quite a drop in quality)
It's been bugging me ever since. If you have the time to spare, would you please help me on this matter?
Please find the recording here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzxycMOcpOsmQV9ZMXRRVUhQWmM/view?usp=sharing
(I've uploaded it on Google drive because I don't know how else to share an audio file here)
This was the original question of the test:
"The woman is talking about a talk which happened in
1.a university
2.parliament
3.a law court
4.a church"
I figure the answer might be the 4th option. But I couldn't be sure unless I really understand she was talking about.*This is what I could make of the recording so far, with the help of my friend:
"I think that I want to come out of it feeling that I've been changed, that I've been taught something, or more than that. I wanted to feel stirred, and they (just?) pay attention. I want to feel a sort of passion. I was particularly thrilled (?) by Jenny Greyson (?) and got a sense of this place, its history, this now (?) and I thought it was very vivid. She brought these scriptural (?) texts into the present and said "this is about you and about me", and I think it doesn't matter where you are on the faith spectre (?) because these texts are universal and they speak to the human hearts in all times and in all places. I think that's what I want to feel (...???) (I can't figure out the last words she said)
Please let me know if there is any wrong word. I'd really appreciate some further explanation, too.
Thank you for your time!

Unfortunately I can't help with the words you are not sure in, but I'm sure it is about a church. You have "scriptural (?) texts" that are "about you and about me", "faith spectre", universal texts that speak to the human hearts. They can't be textbooks, laws or court documents. They are most probably from some Holy Book.

This is my transcript of the audio, it's what I hear.
I think I want to come out of it feeling that I've been changed, that I've been taught something, or more than that, I wanted to feel stirred, and made to pay attention. I want to feel a sort of passion. I was particularly moved by Janet Drayson I got the sense of this place, this history, this now and I thought it was very vivid. She'd brought these scriptural texts into the present and said "this is about you and about me", and I think it doesn't matter where you are on the faith spectrum because these texts are universal and they speak to the human heart in all times and in all places. I think that's what I want to feel a sermon does.
I assume she is speaking about a talk which happened in a church.
Edit
I've changed "human hearts" to "human heart"

I think you're pretty close - it is either a church (she's talking about scriptures and sermons) or an incredibly strange parliament. (really, really strange parliament)
Here's what I have:
"I think that I want to come out of it feeling that I've been changed, that I've been taught something, or more than that. I want it to feel stirred, and make it* pay attention. I want to feel a sort of passion. I was particularly moved by Janet Greyson and got the sense of this place, this history, this now and I thought it was very vivid. She brought these scriptural texts into the present and said "this is about you and about me," and I think it doesn't matter where you are on the faith spectrum** because these texts are universal and they speak to the human hearts in all times and in all places. I think that's what I want to feel a sermon does.
*This sentence has some grammatical issues in it. But that's what I think I'm hearing.
** "Spectrum" is usually used with light - it can be dark, it can be bright, or it can be somewhere in between. "Faith spectrum" goes from people who have strong religious beliefs to people who have no religious beliefs to everyone in between.

The quality of the audio being what it is, some parts are beyond my American ears. Hopefully this clears a few things up though.
1. "...and made to pay attention."
2. "thrilled" works in this context, but I'm not sure it's what she says. If not, she said a similar -ed verb.
3. Janet Greyson(?)
4. "I got the sense of this place, its history, its now, and I thought it was very vivid."
5. "scriptural" is correct.
6. "doesn't matter where you are on the faith spectrum" As in, "it doesn't matter if you are not religious at all, or if you are very religious."
7. I can't make out the last few words either. "As (name) does"? "something about a sermon?" Can't tell. :P

To me it sounds like this person is thinking about going to church but she really wants the experience to be somthing special. She wants some kind of spiritual awakening. I think the last words she says is "sermon dance". She says "faith spectrum" meaning "level of faith".
