Is it correct to say "hit something into"? Can you suggest better verbs?
Hi there,
Is it correct to use "hit into..." in the following sentence?
"The particles are hit into the dust by shrapnel."
Or are there more precise verbs that can express pushing something to the inside by hitting on it?
Thanks!

To hit, or to crash into something.
hit (verb) = to move quickly onto an object or surface, touching it with force
e.g. Hit the ball
crash (verb) = to hit something hard, making a loud noise and often causing damage
e.g. The car crashed into a bus.
