Pronunciation of the article “a”
Hello everyone!
I hear around me in London that some people pronounce "ei" (as the word "day") this kind of article instead of "aa".
John hit a policeman. I heard this sentence from (from? by?) a native speaker and he pronunced the article "a" in (in??) "ei".
Could you explain me why and which situation I can pronaunce it in??
Thank you
Simone

Hello Simone,
The most common sound for 'a' when speaking is the schwa (er) sound. But having said that people from different parts of the country have different accents which would account for what you heard.
Hope this helps
