Any differences between"muck up"and "mess up"? When someone didn't do well in a speech,he would say"I mucked up my speech" but I wonder if it's okay when he said"I messed up my speech" and any diffenences between them?

In American English it is proper to say, "I messed up my speech." "Mucked up" would be informal. As a noun, "muck" refers to dirt, rubbish, or manure. As a verb, it means to mishandle something. It can also refer to cleaning out a barn and spreading the manure on a field.
