Hi Trésor! The verb "to elicit" means to get an answer or a reaction from someone else. I can be used both in the meaning of getting a response, as in example 1, and in the meaning of getting an emotional reaction from someone, as in example 2. 1 - The teacher elicited the correct answer from the students. 2 - The speech elicited an emotional reaction from the audience. https://www.linguee.com/english-portuguese/search?source=auto&query=elicit Happy learning! :)

To "elicit" means to kindle, draw out or evoke strong feelings. You could say, "The senseless violence shown on the t.v. program elicited a strong negative response". OR "Exposing such terrible poverty will elicit sympathy from viewers" Hope this helps
