1.The tall person is nearly 30 some year old. Here ‘is’ can be translated into ‘有’ in Chinese. We don’t say 大概是三十来岁, and sometimes we would say 大概三十来岁
2.This means “there are nearly 2,000 people attending the meeting today.” We can also say 今天参加大会的人有两千多, so you can find only one ‘人’ in this sentence
