the modern spelling is surname
sirname is an old spelling
but sirname makes more sens,' and surname is pronounced more like sirname anyway

In English the word is always "surname" - This is the hereditary name passed from a man to his wife and children, it is a very old tradition in Britain.
Be cautious about using the internet to define words there are a lot of people that cannot spell properly. The nouns 'sir' and 'name' do not equal 'surname' the words have different meanings and origins.
