hi there,
can anyone please tell me which one is grammatically correct?
thanks a lot
Every week an enormous amount of rubbish is thrown away.
Some is/are recycled but a lot is/are put into landfill sites - big holes in the ground.

Hi,
As "rubbish" is an UNCOUNTABLE word
that means we use "is" (singular form of the verb to be).
"Some (rubbish) is recycled but a lot (of rubbish) is put ...".
