What's the difference between "increase 3 times" and "increase by 3 times"? Thanks in advance!

Increase by 3 times means increase by 300%
Increase three times means on 3 seperate times/dates, you increased the amount of something. So on monday you increased it, on tuesday you increased it again, on wednesday you increased it again. It was increased 3 times. Or, it would be better to say it was "increased 3 separate times"
