Examples: "It's cold, rainy, and dark today. Let's not go out today. Let's stay in (stay home), watch Netflix, and cuddle together" "Stay away from that guy. He is really dangerous and probably a serial killer." "Don't stay out past sunset in the favelas. It is not safe. Make sure that you go home before that time." "During high school, I used to stay over at my friend's house (stay there and sleep there), and when we woke up in the morning, his mom made the best breakfast ever"

There is no specific preposition which goes with 'stay': it's the place or situation which follows that determines your choice of preposition. For example: I'm home --> You should stay home. I'm at home --> You should stay at home. I'm in bed --> You should stay in bed. I'm on the bus --> You should stay on the bus. I'm outside the school --> You should stay outside the school. And so on! I hope that's clearer now.

There are phrasal verbs that you need to learn independently from just a verb and a preposition combination. For example: Stay in: Meaning: Not go out “I'm going to STAY IN and chill tonight. Research “phrasal verbs with stay” *Professional Teacher www.italki.com/teacherhelpme

Hi! 'Stay' can be used in lots of different ways. It's usually followed by 'at' (stay at home, stay at my friend's house, etc.), but it's also possible to use it without 'at', for example, when we use the imperative (an order), eg: Stay home!, Stay in! etc. Of course we can also use it with other prepositions to form phrasal verbs: https://www.ecenglish.com/learnenglish/lessons/phrasal-verb-stay
